Shana Cloud, 50, has been charged with first-degree murder and concealment of death in the killing of her husband, Clinton "Clint" Bonnell, a retired Green Beret. Bonnell, 50, was reported missing on January 28 after he failed to attend class at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he was enrolled in a physician assistant program. His remains were later discovered in a body of water in February, southeast of Fayetteville, as reported by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Bonnell's remains were identified as a dismembered torso, and authorities have not recovered all of his limbs, including his head. The Cumberland County District Attorney, Billy West, stated that video evidence allegedly links Cloud to the area where the torso was found.

Bonnell's girlfriend, Kelli Edwards, told ABC News that Bonnell had informed her about his plans to divorce Cloud. He had reportedly told Cloud about the divorce the night before he went missing. Prosecutors allege that Bonnell was shot multiple times, and bullet holes were found in his book bag and laptop at the couple's home.

Cloud, a former traveling nurse, was arrested two months after Bonnell was reported missing. She remains in custody without bond and faces the possibility of capital punishment. Her attorney, James McRae Jr., maintains her innocence, stating, "Ms. Cloud looks forward to her day in court."
